SRFF Welcomes Our Summer Intern!

Summer Internship

Secure Resilient Future Foundation (SRFF) is thrilled to welcome back Katie Shea this summer as our intern. Katie worked with SRFF last summer as well, helping us to stand up our website and spearheading research on the history of “bricked and abandoned” end of life electronics – work that contributed to the launch of the Electronic Waste Graveyard data visualization U.S PIRG back in April.

Katie is a rising senior at Smith College, where she studies history and government, with a concentration on American Policy. She is passionate about consumer protections and market transparency, as well as the regulation of abandonware.

This year, she is focused on furthering the efforts of SRFF in partnership with Consumer Reports, US PIRG, and the Center for Democracy and Technology on introducing the “Connected Consumer Products End of Life Disclosure Act”. A bill that will require companies to be transparent about how long they intend to provide technology support to consumer connected devices. This will allow people to buy products while being fully informed on how long they will stay secure.
